I thought the book was absoulutly thriling.
I think the book 'Alien Enciclopedia" is the best book I've ever read.It has everythink about real aliens,t.v. aliens, alien investigations such as Telly tubbies,Mulder and Scully,The Blob,Mr Spot I like the book because it has a great way of making pictures in you're head of aliens.Every second of the book fills you with more and more imformation.Andrew Donkin is my second best author because he has such a creative mind.'Alien Enciclopedia' is the best book I've ever read.Soon as I picked the book up I could not put it down. The reason I liked the book is because it was about aliens and was one of those books where there was no boaring bits.It just increased better and better. The book doe's not scare me and I don't intend to be scared but the illustrations are very spine chilling.I think the illustrations are increasingly amazing!I would recomend this book to people who are into astronomy and like to be suprised!Andrew Donkin has met my class and me and I think he is a top ten author!Plus,I think the illustrations are top ten to!I have read 'Bugman' which is another book Andrew Donkin wrote and I'd give that book seven out of ten.Alien Enciclopedia is the best book in the U.K... Thats what I think any way!!!!!!! Like I say again Andrew Donkins book'Alien Enciclopedia is the best book I've ever read and I wish him well in the future! The next book Andrew Donkin writes I will certainly buy it.

If you love crab, this is THE book!
I recently visited the Oreagon Coast and visited a place called Waldport Bay. It was there that I had my first experience seeing crab being caught. Being able to enjoy fresh crab there was the most fabulous time! I absolutely love crab and tried to find a book out there dedicated to crab. No luck! When I got home from my vacation I logged on to Amizon.com and found this great book! I never realzed there were so many great ways to prepare crab! The author makes it so simple to follow her recipies and the ones I have tried have been out of this world! Now I only wish I had all of that fresh crab I had on the coast! Try this book you;ll love it!

All Around Town: The Photographs of Richard Samuel Roberts
Published in School & Library Binding by Henry Holt & Company, Inc. (February, 1998)
Authors: Dinah Johnson and Richard Samuel Roberts
Average review score:

A photographic window into African-American history
"All Around Town: The Photographs of Richard Samuel Roberts" combines the subject matter of the title with an easy-to-read text by Dinah Johnson. An author's note at the end states that Roberts was a self-taught photographer who documented African-American life in Columbia, South Carolina, and other places in the 1920s and 1930s.

This book is full of wonderful images: a proud graduate in cap and gown, a baseball team, uniformed schoolgirls, a couple posing with a classic car, a man with a dog, a young soldier in uniform, and much more. There are some particularly nice pictures of children that should appeal to contemporary kids. Together these pictures offer a moving glimpse into the lives of African-Americans in Roberts' time. Roberts had a real gift for photography, and the format of this book makes that gift accessible to young readers. Highly recommended.

Along This Way: The Autobiography of James Weldon Johnson
Published in Paperback by Penguin USA (Paper) (February, 1990)
Authors: James Weldon Johnson and Sondra Kathryn Wilson
Average review score:

A True Classic!!!
I purchased this book several years back, as part of the research for my second book. I cannot recommend any book more highly. Anyone interested at all in African American life from the 1880s to the 1930s (particularly as it was lived in New York City from about 1899 to the Harlem Renaissance) should buy it. There is not a more fascinating autobiography in print anywhere! And the life of this man! He was the founder of the first high school for African Americans in the state of Florida, located in Jacksonville (the high school my own mother would attend); the first African American to pass the bar exam in the state of Florida; part of the first successful African American Broadway composing team (after he left Jacksonville and moved to New York City); composer of the lyrics to, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," the song long considered the African American national anthem (his brother Rosamond composed the music); a consulate in Nicaragua and Venezuela; the first executive secretary of the NAACP, in which capacity he pioneered anti-lynching legislation (though he was unsuccessful in seeing it pass, the effort is described in the book, and is a fascinating lesson in the machinations of Congressional politics in the 1920s); author of groundbreaking fiction such as, "The Autobiography of an Ex-Coloured Man"; author of the nonfiction classic, "Black Manhattan." The list goes on... His accomplishments, his dignity and intelligence were stunning, simply awe inspiring. And it is a real shame, an indication of how troubled our culture is, that Hollywood has never made a movie about his life, and he is barely mentioned as a key figure who shaped American culture (notice I didn't say African American culture, I said AMERICAN CULTURE). To everyone reading this review, BUY THIS BOOK. You are in for an experience so delicious it will shame you if you never before knew it existed. It will make you want to call for the resignation of all college professors who do not have "Along This Way" as REQUIRED READING for any course designed to examine the history of American culture.

Alsace (Touring in Wine Country)
Published in Paperback by Antique Collectors Club (April, 1996)
Authors: Hubrecht Duijker and Hugh Johnson
Average review score:

Alsace or bust!
Having never been to the Alsace region, I cannot personally verify the accuracy of this book's information. However, I can vouch for its tantalizing pull compelling me to make the trip!

This book is well organized and perfectly suited to the reader/traveller who is making a first aquaintance with the Alsace region of France. Though its main focus is introducing the many wines which are produced in this area, I found it to be very informative regarding the history, architecture, and other main attractions of the local cities, towns, and villages. I would definitely recommend it to the everyday traveller as well as the connoisseur interested in a wine touring holiday.

The preface of the book includes a general introduction to the area, its local cuisines, and wine making traditions. Accompanied with many great pictures, the book then reviews numerous towns and villages which are chosen primarily for their wine making appeal. Each town is introduced with a brief historical background and charmingly described in prose that belies the practical layout of the book: "Possibly the most beautiful spot in the Turckheim is the Place Turenne, tucked behind the Port de France gate. If you spend an evening in the village, listen out for the singing night watchman, who continues a centuries-old Turckheim tradition. Each evening at 10 pm, armed with his halberd and lantern, he walks through the streets passing through each of the gates and warns inhabitants to 'watch their hearths and candles'."

The book outlines the local hotels and restaurants in each town, including phone numbers and typical prices of these establishments. It also lists local places of interest, market times, and seasonal wine festivals.

My enthusiasm to visit Alsace has been greatly enhanced by this book. I can almost taste the choucroute and Munster cheese, imagining myself ensconsed in one of the many delightful Alsatian villages.

Exciting ecology
Do you like action? Do you like romance? Then you'll love THE AMAZON RAIN FOREST by Darv Johnson. It's a manly, two-fisted story of the friendship between two women water-skiing the Amazon River. The story is told so seamlessly that you'll think this is a science book for children. Oh well.

The fish included with each copy are good with a nice onion wine.

WOW!
If you like to read fast-paced, action-packed, adventurous thrillers, you must read "Amended Return" by David Johnson. Jennifer Johnson, decorated CIA agent easily classified as a lethal weapon, hears gun shots across the street and watches as evidence of the crime is erased by an explosive fire, a fire that consumes her own son. In a bizarre twist of fate she and her neighbor's son find themselves in a struggle to survive rogue government goons intent on more murder. In a narrative sure to give you goose bumps, Mr. Johnson paints a portrait of greed and corruption at the highest levels of our government. Fiction or non-fiction, you wonder, as page after page you are drawn into this author's intense and mind-boggling plot. You will not be able to put this book down until the very end. David Johnson's talent will soon propel him to best-seller status and I look forward to reading more from this author. Great work, David. Keep it coming.
